It is a turn based strategy game. Kind of like Risk, Age of Empires, etc. Its got the right mix of humor, gameplay, difficulty and a good AI to keep it interesting. You can read reviews about it in the appstore, but here I'll give you some tips.
1. Try to build up to atleast 3 cities. This will give you a good source of income.
2. Protect these with some armies and good fortification.
3. Use your main leader to get some good 'items'. These are things that give you an advantage in the battle.
4. Build up your main city - must be near the sea - with all necessary buildings so that you can make the best type of troops.
5. Control the seas around your cities with ships. Ships are cheap so keep making them till all your seas are protected. Losing your cities from the sea is the easiest way to lose hard earned money and cities.
6. Hire a general, preferably one that can move multiple times in a turn - check for the shoe sign on the info sign for the unit to see how many times they can move in a turn. Get your General some good 'items'.
7. Use a scout behind your army to conquer unprotected lands and then move back to safety.
